In Kenya's Rift Valley, a city called Nakuru is rapidly expanding. With a population of more than 500,000, the city has several difficulties with regard to sewage disposal. The following are some of the major issues:

Lack of Appropriate Sewerage Infrastructure: One of Nakuru's main issues is the absence of Appropriate Sewerage Infrastructure. The city's sewage infrastructure is insufficient to meet the demands of the expanding population, and many areas are not linked to it. As a consequence, many homes turn to disposing of their waste in public spaces like fields or bodies of water, endangering both the environment and public health.

Poor Maintenance of sewage Systems: Nakuru has a small number of sewage systems, however they are not well maintained, which causes clogs and overflows. The incorrect discharge of solid waste and non-biodegradable items into the sewage system often contributes to this issue.

Lack of Treatment Facilities: Nakuru's current sewage treatment facilities are insufficient to meet the demands of the city's expanding population. Because of this, the majority of sewage is released into water bodies without being treated, which results in water contamination and environmental deterioration.

Lack of Education and Awareness: Many Nakuru people are unaware of the dangers connected with poor sewage disposal, including the significance of appropriate disposal. Because of this ignorance, sewage is improperly disposed of, which makes the issue worse.

Limited Resources: The Kenyan government, which is in charge of supplying the country's fundamental infrastructure and services, has little money to devote to the creation and upkeep of effective sewage disposal systems. It is challenging to fully address the issue given the budgetary constraints.
