About Ol- Njorowa Gorge and Itinerary

Hells Gate National park is on the floor of the rift valley. Known for many attractions the crown jewel of this park is the Ol – Njorowa Gorge. This long ravine lined with sheer cliffs has plenty of wonders to enjoy. With a fair share of Natural springs that form a stream especially in the wet season. The gorge widens as it snaked down to Suswa plains where it spreads out and disappears.
To undertake this expedition you need to be adequately prepared as it passes through proper off the beaten track routes. An early meet with our expedition crew in Nairobi CBD at Bata Hilton by 0600hrs for departure with late participants being left. The drive takes you South to the start point on the Mai- Mahiu Narok highway.
The trek weaves on the vast plains between Mt. Suswa , Hells Gate and Mt. Longonot. Halfway into the trek, you find a huge swath of a sand plain and the path banks North to the mouth of the gorge. The famous Devils Kitchen lies shotly after as the trek weaves through the beautiful gorge with sheer cliffs on both sides. The trek has no hills and should serve as a good source of endurance for hikers and marathoners as you enjoy the unique features of the gorge on every turn.
This hike should make an exciting trip for the used hiker. Be sure to carry enough water and energizers for this trek. At the end of the trek, you find our bush chef ready with your hot lunch to much delight.
After enjoying lunch board the bus for the nearby Olkaria Hot water Spa, the largest natural geothermal spa in Africa. Relax away your muscles and drive later to Nairobi feeling refreshed.
WHAT TO CARRY
Proper Comfortable hiking boots with good grip or trainers with thick sole (it gets hot sometimes) Rain Coat and or Light jacket
Emergency Safety kit (Evacuation card, personal first aid items, matchbox)
Water (At least 3-4 litres)
Mkeka hat or sun screen
Sunglasses and Sunscreen
Snacks eg. Crisps, biscuits, Sweets, cookies to last the hike
Day Pack /Small Bag to carry your personal items
GPS Tracker device if available.
Identification card or passport (Mandatory and failure to which you will pay Non Residents fee at the gate)
