Located on Lake Victoria, this island is a haven for birds. Covered mostly in grassland, Ndere Island provides beautiful scenic views of the Homa hills to the south, Mageta Island to the east and the glimpses of Kampala in Uganda beyond the south west horizon. Rusinga Island Lodge and Mbita Rusinga Island lies in the eastern part of Lake Victoria at the mouth of the Winam Gulf. Part of Kenya, it is linked to Mbita Point on the mainland by a causeway. On the island is the famous Tom Mboya Mausoleum with great historical significance to the geopolitical environment in country. On this island is a private retreat the Rusinga Island Lodge where we shall set up camp for 2 days. Across Rusinga Island is Mbita, a vibrant town also on the shores of the lake and the main entry point to Rusinga.
Takawiri Island Resort is situated in the Takawiri Island which is one of the most unpoilt islands on Lake Victoria, which is not only the source of the river Nile but also the second largest fresh water lake in the world.
