About Makuli Forest
Trekking Time: 7 hours
The Makuli forest block is located approximately 130 kms east of Nairobi and consist of hilly terrain subject to semi-tropical climate. Scores of villages dot the area and the indigenous population overwhelmingly speaks Kamba; a language spoken by 3.96 million nationwide.
The Makuli community consists of small subsistence – level farms on semi-fertile, rugged land. Agriculture drives the local economy. The particular main hill has a dense forest with clear signs of past. It is amazing to see the green forest with springs in the middle of dry ukambani. The hike provides a view of rivers, roads and hills as far as Emali and Makindu.
Enough of geology… at 1700M above sea level, this is expected to be a modest hike suitable for experienced hikers as well as novices.
