Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Ensure fundamental understanding of the P&U market in Africa (clients, competitors, partners, opportunities, business environment, regulation etc.)
  2. An aggressive, hands-on, self-starter who can build and grow a successful vertical sales channel to the electrical utility/power transmission and distribution and industrial automation markets.
  3. Proven knowledge of go-to-market strategy for these verticals.
  4. Regularly engage with the cross-functional organizations to assess field needs and prioritize the development of selling tools, field events, and related materials.
  5. Strong business fundamentals, and a background in providing solutions to complex customer technical problems.
  6. Exceptional customer/market research, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  7. A demonstrated track record of delivering continuing sales growth.
  8. Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills, and a proven ability
  9. To communicate complex technical concepts to a highly technical customer base.
  10. Proven sales record established within a B2B sales, with a technically focused product range with supporting background and industry knowledge of solution application selling.
  11. Recruit & Support appointed distributors, train their sales teams, including performance monitoring and assist in resolving customer needs
  12. Ensuring quality standards are met for all materials produced and released. As this is a global role, content needs to be globally scalable while also meeting the needs of the local markets.
  13. Developing and supporting activities at conferences and tradeshows. You will ensure that we have the right content prepared and work with senior leadership to communicate that content to the industry in the most impactful way.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan and deploy commercial plans
  • Own the opportunity pipeline within the P&U market segment in the region
  • Identify leads, develop opportunities and generate sales
  • Ensure regular customer interaction and key account management
  • Plan and deploy marketing campaigns incl. participation in trade shows
  • Provide leadership, governance and support to the P&U sales teams and KAMs in the region
  • A solid understanding of budgeting and financial planning is essential as this role involves agreeing on annual budgets as well as producing financial reports on customer deal structures


  • Degree in Sales and Marketing or related field of study.
  • 10 years of experience in relevant P&U markets (ideally covering both conventional and renewables, as well as power grids)
  • Experience in industry marketing, product marketing, technical marketing, technical pre-sales, management consulting, or product management within the Power/Utilities industry.
  • Previous account management experience
  • Analytical thinker and superior problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding negotiation and selling skills
  • Must have regional sales exposure especially in Africa countries.
