ThinkPlace Kenya is a dynamic, diverse team of designers from eight different countries speaking over 15 languages. We draw on a broad range of methodologies including human-centred design and design thinking, behavioural insights and social psychology, and linguistic anthropology and ethnography to deeply understand human behaviour. We do this to ensure our design solutions are sure to meet local needs and are contextually appropriate while being highly scalable.

As the scale of our projects grows, we require support in terms of project-level intelligence and coordination to assist in on time, on budget, high quality project delivery. To meet this growing demand, we are looking to hire a Producer full-time in our Nairobi studio.

Who are we looking for?

You are a highly organized self-starter with experience in managing operations and/or reporting for donor-funded projects. Exposure to design thinking is desirable.

What will you be doing?

As a Producer, you would be working very closely with one or several Project Leads to provide strategic advice and intelligence to better coordinate the project. As we are a strategic design firm, our projects are fast-paced and highly creative. Your role would therefore be critical to the success of the project, but it’s also important that you remain flexible and accommodating of a highly iterative and dynamic design process.

  1. Project management & coordination: You are passionate about project management with a particular focus on budgets, schedules, logistics, timelines and client management. You inspire confidence in clients and project delivery teams. You can keep a project tracking to ensure we deliver outstanding quality, on time and on budget.
  2. Working in teams: You will work closely with Project Leads to build cohesion across the entire ThinkPlace team. You can inspire people and work well with autonomy and space to be imaginative and innovative.
  3. Highly organised: You will be an excellent planner taking pride to ensure all logistics and events are planned and well through through. You will be highly committed and proud to see a job through to completion
  4. Reporting: You will manage all donor reporting associated with your project. This means compiling financial and technical/narrative reports (likely on a quarterly basis), and are responsible for ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  5. Project Resourcing & Forecasting: Beyond your project-specific activities, you will be also be expected to work closely with the Executive Team to facilitate resource planning across the studio’s portfolio of work. You will have excellent customer service, not only managing Project Lead and Executive Team relationships, but building trust and open communication in support of the studio’s objectives.
  6. Field Logistics: You will organise our team’s field travel as needed, and provide clear field budgets to our Operations team whenever teams are conducting field work.
  7. Risk Management: You're a collaborative team player and effective communicator who can conceptualise challenges and project pain points easily, knowing when to escalate issues and seek advice when needed.
  8. Documenting and Record-keeping: You will be a good writer and be able to take disparate information and prepare records of conversations and larger papers built from various sources.

Other Details

This will be a full-time role based here in Nairobi office. Ability to work in Kenya is desirable, but not necessary. Salary is negotiable. The start date for this role is somewhat flexible, but we expect the role to begin no later than May 1, 2020.
