The miniature contact sensor is an invaluable tool for vaults, safes, swinging and sliding doors, windows, emergency exits, office cabinets, desk drawers and outdoor furniture.
It comprises two components: a reed switch and a magnet.
Either part can go to either side of the door, window or any other component.
When the two are in close contact (e.g. a closed door or vault) the reed switch is closed allowing electric current to flow. However, when the two are separated (e.g. an open door, window or vault), the reed switch is open and the current doesn't flow.
This mechanism can be set such that when the door is open, the switch triggers an alarm or sends a notification to your phone through a GSM module(not included).
