How can the perfect marriage, the perfect job and the perfect life add up to such a perfect nightmare?
When scary things begin to happen in their brand new dream house, Rowan and Lash Purcell have one ace in the hole – their neighbors, Jake and his brother Luke: the Lytebrothershousecleaners.com.
These ghost busters are the real deal. They learned their craft from their master demon-chaser father and mother, Rita, the classy, sassy witch.
Trouble is, the Purcells don’t believe in ghosts.
“Our house is brand new. How can it be haunted?”
Jake might have some heavy baggage of his own – guilt over his father’s death and a desire to marry a normal girl who bakes cookies while he’s at work instead of bewitching people with spells.
But when the blood starts seeping from the walls, he’s all the Purcells have.
Will Rowan and Lash listen to him in time? Or will they end up haunted by their indecision?
Curl up with Book 1 of the new Lyte Brothers Supernatural Occult series – but with the lights on and your back to the wall. An unputdownable read.
Interview with exciting new voice in supernatural fiction.
Q: How did you find yourself in the world of ghosts, witches and demons?
Cat: I love the idea of characters who move easily between the supernatural and the real world. When I write I’m creating a universe that is as normal as the world outside my writing room. I don’t have to stretch to come up with monsters with bizarre faces who live in strange realms. The Lytes and their family and friends have jobs in the financial district and go to school, clubs and listen to the blues. They have relationship struggles and restore classic cars. Just like the rest of us. It’s just they also see spirits and chase ghosts in haunted houses.
Q: Who inspired your cast of characters?
Cat: Jake and the others came to me when I decided to name them after my family members. Jake and Luke are real brothers in my family but they aren’t anything like my fictional characters. All the good guys (male and female) are real people and I just made them as attractive as they are in real life, though you wouldn’t recognize them. We don’t have any financial planners or event planners. There is a real doctor, but she doesn’t chase down spirits, for example. Unless she’s keeping secrets from me. The fictional family and friends sprang to life as I found names for them. The evil characters are always fun. My real brother is Frank but he’s a retired oil executive and he’s kept quiet about demon hunting. I think he could slay anything, though. He’s pretty exceptional. My sister is Rita. She’s not a witch but she is classy and sassy, very beautiful, and like the others, she gave me permission to use her name. One of her best friends is Eileen, Frank’s late wife. I loved putting my sister-in-law in there. I think she would have liked it. If her spirit is hovering around, I hope she approves that I’ve immortalized her husband and grandsons.
