I matter is a POWERFUL thought.
When kids are little, they look to the world around them to figure out if and why they matter.
In order to develop a sense of self, they look to others and their reactions.
If met by smiles, hugs, questions, and appreciation, they decide they DO matter.
If met by indifference, disdain or punishment, kids may decide they don't matter.
Help your child learn to look for the smiles, the hugs, the questions and the concern in others, which is an essential skill in a world where the words 'You Matter' are so seldom said.
